1. APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
Applications are subject to approval and the ALSGBI reserves the right to decline an application without giving any reason.
Membership payments are non-refundable, except in the case of a declined application or an accidental overpayment. If you should receive a refund to which you are not entitled, you agree to pay it back to the ALSGBI when requested to do so.
3. DISCOUNT ON ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING & SURGICAL COURSE FEES
In order to qualify for the membership discount, members must be paid up in advance for the duration of the relevant meeting/course.
As per section 11 of the Constitution, if payment of membership fees is not made within 1 month of the requested date then membership will automatically cease. If any monies owing for other services/goods provided are not remitted within 1 month of the requested date then membership will be suspended.
5. CONDUCT OF MEMBERS
The ALSGBI is a professional Association. Members are required to be honest, polite and professional at all times, including in email correspondence and at surgical meetings, not only to ALSGBI employees and delegates, but also to any 3rd parties such as venue reception staff. We take our ethical, moral and legal responsibilities very seriously. Our environment welcomes people of all ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions if any and discrimination in any form is not permitted. In particular we comply with the Equality Act 2010. Any member breaching these requirements in any way may be suspended or expelled.
As per section 10 of the Constitution, any member wishing to cancel their membership should email firstname.lastname@example.org, giving at least 3 months’ notice before the day when his/her subscription shall next be due. If no such notice is received the member shall be liable for the subscription for the ensuing year which shall be a debt due to and legally recoverable by the Association.
All membership fees are in GBP.
