The ALSGBI Academy Minimal Access Surgery and Robotic Training Group

Team Leads: Anuradha Thrikandiyur – ST3 North East, Vimal Mahendran – ST3 Scotland and Matthew Boal – ST6 Severn

Our focus is to facilitate high quality minimal access surgical (MAS) training for our members and beyond, within the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.

Our vision and objectives over the next 5 years:

  • Identify MAS training needs of surgical care providers in order to facilitate standardised and equitable training.
  • To collaborate with surgical societies in the development and evaluation of standardised MAS training pathways including accreditation at core and higher-level surgical care providers.
  • Develop and evaluate objective assessment tools that can be incorporated into MAS training curricula.
  • To evaluate novel MAS devices and technologies.
  • To collaborate with national and international surgical societies to achieve the above goals.
