The Rectal Prolapse Surgical Management Cadaveric Course is designed for hands-on practice on Thiel-embalmed cadavers. This course is suitable for Consultants, Fellows & ST7 – ST8 with an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction. Each session will be preceded by talks and video presentations followed by demonstrations and cadaveric practical sessions.

Course objectives

We have developed specific animal models to teach Key Skills of Laparoscopic Dissection, Suturing & Anastomosis (stapled & handsewn). Participants can relate these skills directly to live operating during the course

This course offers extended simulation sessions with expert guidance to allow trainees to confidently handle and control the endoscopes. There are also theoretical sessions on the history of endoscopy, patient preparation and consent, analgesia and sedation, common pathology, and equipment functionality.

Virtual skills assessment, overview of the Xi Robot, port placement and docking the robot with hands-on practice, simulation training, dry skills training and emergency conversion.
