4th Annual Laparoscopic Bile Duct Exploration Course – 27th – 28th June

Being held at Torbay Hospital and SRA Developments, Bremridge, Devon this 2 day course is intended for Upper GI Trainees/Consultants (StR6-8/Post CCT).

It is designed to concentrate on laparoscopic bile duct exploration. The first day covers evidence for practice, patient selection, surgical techniques, the pitfalls of starting a service, getting the right equipment. Also discussed is the management of acute presentation and integration of surgical service and ERCP. As well as lectures live link surgery will be used for interactive discussion. The second day is workshop based concentrating on laparoscopic suturing, choledocoscopes and bile duct instruments and a highly recommended LCBDE wet lab model.

Course objectives This course has been successfully running for more than 10 years and continues to develop. Positive feedback has been received ever since the course started
Methods of teaching This is an intensive, two-day course focusing on the core skills required for safe laparoscopic surgical practice. The course has been carefully designed to maximise hands-on experience whilst in our centre. The course is equally suitable for the junior surgeon starting out in minimal access surgery and for the more senior surgeon who is either new to laparoscopy or wishes to refresh their core skills.
