The National Audit of Laparoscopic Theatre Equipment 2011
President's Introduction to the next round of the Laparoscopic Theatre Equipment Audit:
It is a pleasure to introduce the second round of the ALS National Audit of Laparoscopic Theatre Equipment. This initiative, started by my predecessor, Mike Parker, reported its initial findings back in summer 2010. Since then we have had very helpful feedback from both medical and administrative staff and used this to redesign the forms and scoring system to make things as clear as possible. This work has been undertaken by Richard Welbourn, the ALS audit lead. We are really grateful to Richard for all his hard work in putting together the new on line "Survey Monkey" tool. Using the on line survey tool should make completion of the audit much easier and quicker for all concerned. I would encourage all hospitals to submit their data. One of the main criticisms of the last round of this audit was from hospitals and organisations who had not returned their forms and were therefore not appropriately ranked - if we don't have a return from your hospital then unfortunately we are unable to score it appropriately. Please do make sure that one of the team in your laparoscopic unit takes the 5 minutes needed to fill in the on line form.
